Description of the Project
What is the rationale of this project, in terms of objectives pursued and needs to be addressed?
We all belong to a community which is bound together by common issues, interests and purposes. We intend to introduce our students into the meaningful matters that people around the world deal with every day and to show that the young people can have a real influence on their own lives and the lives of other people. The project will make the students realize that their future starts today and that now they can effectively participate in the school, local and European activities. By doing that students will develop democratic attitude, self-awareness, responsibility for the ones in need, knowledge how to manage finances, their free time and discover many lifestyles of other children all across Europe. We will focus on the following aspects of life: politics, profession, business, charity, interests and free time. All the provided activities will ensure increased sense of initiative, more active participation in the society and greater understanding of social and cultural diversity of partner countries now and in the future.
The coordinating school (the Czech school) was a partner in EU project called Respectful School Councils coordinated by The Centre for Democracy in Education (CEDU). It is the first Czech organization with the mission to develop and support the civic education in Czech primary and secondary schools. CEDU aims at being the main hub for cooperation of non-governmental, governmental, academic and corporate institutions in the area of democratic education and responsible citizenship. By being the Regional Consulting Centre for School Parliaments we are looking forward to making comparisons and research across the partner schools and, consequently, create outputs to be used for the future professional use and growth. We wish for the development of students´ democratic attitudes and habits.
We aim to provide students, teachers and the wider community with project ideas which tackle current issues - such as management, employment, poverty and children's rights to encourage a sense of autonomy and the idea that we are all responsible for our actions. We must respect the rights of everyone and take responsibility to ensure everyone is able to enjoy their rights, values and beliefs. Most importantly to instill the believe that we are able to make a change and a positive contribution to global issues.
